Germany star caps hosts’ last-16 win over Denmark with brilliant strike to move onto three goals for the tournament

The race for the Golden Boot at Euro 2024 is hotting up with Germany’s Jamal Musiala in a three-way tie for the lead with Georges Mikautadze and Ivan Schranz.

Mikautadze’s penalty in Georgia’s shock win over Portugal put him ahead of a clutch of players on two goals apiece at the end of the group stage, before Musiala curled home in the last 16 against Denmark to move level with the Metz striker.

In the same last-16 clash, Kai Havertz scored his second goal of the tournament to date, to join Germany team-mate Niclas Fullkrug, Cody Gakpo and Romania’s Razvan Marin.

Schranz joined Musiala and Mikautadze on three goals after giving Slovakia a surprise lead against England in Gelsenkirchen, before Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane popped up to both move onto two in the most dramatic of circumstances, quickly followed by Fabian Ruiz for Spain against Georgia.
