New Chelsea winger Estevao Willian says he’s having trouble understanding Cole Palmer speak, but has been given his squad number!
Estevao was finally unveiled as an official new Chelsea player in the week after a year of Blues fans getting excited for his arrival.
The Brazilian had his first interview since being announced as an official Chelsea player earlier in the week on the Chelsea website, and on there he named Eden Hazard as the former Blues player he watched the most when growing up.
He also revealed that he spoke to Chelsea legend and former centre back Thiago Silva who helped convince him that Chelsea was the right club for him to join!
The youngster will be hoping for his first minutes in a Chelsea shirt tomorrow night as The Blues get ready to face Bayer Leverkusen in another preseason friendly ahead of then facing AC Milan this Sunday afternoon.
It was confirmed yesterday that Estevao will be wearing the number 41 ahead of the new season for Chelsea.
It’s a high number but that’s not unusual for players. Some of them request high numbers because it might have some sentiment to them. We don’t know if 41 does have a meaning to Estevao at this point though, but that’s what he will be wearing this season.
Palmer has a very local accent shall we say, and I guess that can make those who are still learning the English language, difficult to understand him!
Chelsea faced Palmeiras in the Club World Cup, and Palmer and Estevao spoke after the game.
Estevao said on this:
“Yes, Palmer, Essugo, and Delap came and spoke to me. I didn’t understand anything Palmer said, actually!”
