Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton are all shining in Three Lions training ahead of Serbia opener

Dean Henderson says his Crystal Palace team-mates Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton have all been “outstanding” in England training on the eve of Euro 2024.

Palace are the most represented club in Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad, with four Eagles players having made the cut, including goalkeeper Henderson.

Guehi is expected to start alongside John Stones at centre-back for England in the absence of the injured Harry Maguire, while midfielders Eze and Wharton could make appearances off the bench in the tournament.

Henderson is Southgate’s third-choice goalkeeper meanwhile, behind Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale.

Henderson, who believes England can win Euro 2024, revealed how impressed he has been with his club-mates’ performances in training ahead of the competition.

“It’s fantastic”, Henderson said of Palace’s representation in the squad. “I’m delighted for all of them. They’ve all been outstanding in training this week and made a great impression.”

England’s 1-0 friendly defeat by Iceland, a side currently ranked 72nd in the world by Fifa, on Friday night was a disappointing Wembley send-off for the Three Lions.

But Henderson is not concerned by England’s run of just one win from their past five games heading into the Euros.

“We’ve got some amazing players, hopefully we can go all the way”, the 27-year-old said. “It’s going to be a fantastic experience, and we’ll have to try and bring it home.”

Asked whether the Iceland defeat boded poorly for England’s chances of success in Germany, he replied: “No, I don’t think so. I don’t think we’ll put a calorie of thought into it, to be honest.”

Henderson said of England’s preparations for the tournament: “[Iceland] is obviously one where it’s maybe difficult.

“The lads don’t want to get injured and maybe don’t take the last step into big challenges and things like that. So that’s understandable.

“But hopefully it’s a lesson we learn and we know we can’t take the foot off the gas if we want to be successful this summer. It’s just about getting to base and then settling down.

“We’ll have some good training weeks and see where we go from there.”
