Empoli coach Roberto D’Aversa feels that Inter Milan’s injury crisis is a “problem he’d like to have” considering the quality of the Nerazzurri’s squad.

D’Aversa gave his thoughts in a press conference today, as reported by FCInterNews.

Empoli take on Inter in Serie A tomorrow evening.

For the Nerazzurri, it is certainly a match where they will feel that they have no option but to take points.

But Empoli will also feel that a result would be important. They may have a foothold in the Serie A table, but they’ll be well aware that all it will take is a few losses for them to get sucked back into the relegation battle.

Empoli Coach D’Aversa: “Inter Injury Crisis A Problem I’d Like To Have”

One factor that could be significant is the players who Inter have out with injury.

In midfield, Hakan Calhanoglu is missing. Meanwhile, einter.com/2025/01/18/henrikh-mkhitaryan-fit-inter-milan-empoli-serie-a/is only just coming back from an injury of his own, and unlikely to start.

Then, Davide Frattesi’s fitness is also a doubt.

In defense, Yann Bisseck is missing. And then Francesco Acerbi is back – but, like Mkhitaryan, still very much unlikely to start as he gets back to full fitness.

Empoli coach D’Aversa noted that “against a team like Inter you can’t make any errors.”

“They’re champions of Italy,” he went on. “They’re a very strong team, in every position.”

“I hear about some of their injuries,” D’Aversa continued. “But clearly when the replacements are players like Asllani, Frattesi, and Pavard we’re still talking about some of the best players in Serie A.”

“I’d like to have the kind of injury crisis Inter have,” the Empoli coach hit out.

“I’d also add that, if I were a player, this is the kind of match I’d always like to play in,” D’Aversa said.

“Looking back to the first match, I can say that before Goglichidze’s sending-off, we kept Inter at 0-0.”

The Empoli coach argued that “We have to remember how we did that.”

“It takes intensity, determination, and courage to stop a team like that.”
