Preparations for the 2024/25 campaign are now underway for the Celtic FC Women’s squad as the Champions returned to Barrowfield earlier this week.

After lifting their first ever SWPL title at Paradise back in May, Elena Sadiku’s side are now back in training and gearing up for the new campaign.

The Celtic Head Coach has been busy over the close season, bringing five new players to the club during the summer.

And the squad welcomed those new faces into training on Monday as they got to work on the pitch ahead of their first match action later this month.

Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV, Elena Sadiku said: “It feels amazing to be back for pre-season.

"Obviously it’s nice to see the players, the staff and all the people around the club, but mostly it’s very nice to see the players back in action and also getting to know the new players. So it’s great to get started.

“Going from our last game to where we are now, it’s not only been holidays, there’s also been some work behind the scenes.

'But there is nothing better than being back out on the pitch with your team. The best thing I do is work because I love my job so much.'

“Right now at training we have 23 players, so pretty much the full squad is here. The only thing is, we have some positions that are open.

“But right now, we need to focus on what we have and I feel like I’m very happy to have them in the team.”

“I’d say the new signings are a different quality. I think the squad we're going to have this season is going to be stronger than last season, which you can see in training already.

'We had our first session earlier this week, and it was a really high intensity, even if it was supposed to be a more start to pre-season.'

“But it’s going to bring a lot when it comes to the technical side, and we are going to be more consistent than last season.

The Celtic boss added: “Obviously we have many games and training sessions coming up in pre-season. Now we just need to build on last season and turn that into an improvement.

“Like I have said before, this is the start of something new and we just want to be better, improve, make progress and eventually have more success.”
