Ekitike scored 22 goals in all competitions for Frankfurt in 2024/24 and added a further 12 assists. He was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season after helping Frankfurt to Champions League qualification.

United want to sign a number nine as the Red Devils rebuild from the club’s worst league finish since 1974. A deal for Matheus Cunha has already been agreed, while talks are ongoing over the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. United want a centre-forward to complete their new-look attack and Ekitike is at the forefront of their plans.

Despite the absence of European football for next season, Sky Sports are claiming that Ekitike is open to a potential move to Old Trafford. Personals terms are not expected to be an issue with the France u-21 international open to the transfer.

Ekitike is keen to leave Frankfurt for the Premier League amid strong interest from England, but the Bundesliga side are reluctant to lose the player.

Frankfurt have set an asking price of €100m (£85.2m) for Ekitike, who is contracted at the club until 2029. The forward only joined Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €16.5m last summer, after an initial loan sell in Germany.

United’s move for the forward could hinge on sale as the Red Devils look to offload unwanted assets. Suitors are being sought for Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony after loan spells last season, Alejandro Garnacho has been deemed surplus to requirements. United hope to raise in excess of £120m for transfer business from those sales.
