USMNT attacking midfielder Paxten Aaronson looks to get another crack at earning Bundesliga minutes this season. Kicker quotes Eintracht Frankfurt’s chief sporting officer as stating that Aaronson plays a role in the club’s preparation for the new season. The 21-year-old recently returned from his second loan stint in Holland.

The younger of the two Aaronson brothers who once featured for MLS side Philadelphia Union joined Eintracht for a €4m transfer fee in January 2023. Paxten made seven appearances for Oliver Glasner’s SGE during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign. For a time, he seemed to be knocking on the door of the Eintracht XI.

Paxten garnered one assist under Glasner before picking up another assist amid seven appearances under Dino Toppmöller during the first half of the subsequent season. Eintracht opted to loan him out to Vitesse Arnhem in January 2024. He then spent all of last season back in the Netherlands on loan at Utrecht.

Despite not having made an appearance for his German club since December 2023, Eintracht appear ready to give Paxten a good look in training camp. During his loan stints, the Medford-native increased his estimated market value to €8m and earned four USMNT caps. He scored eight goals in 33 Eredivisie appearances for Utrecht last year.

We’re planning with Paxten,SGE board-member-for-sport Markus Krösche is quoted by Kicker as saying. “He has had a good season at Utrecht.

Paxten’s direct competitors in Toppmöller’s squad include Can Uzun and Fares Chaibi. Young Hungarian prospect Krisztián Lisztes will also receive another chance to establish himself during camp.

It thus certainly won’t be easy for Paxten to fend off stiff competition irrespective of what Krösche has said. Paxten’s elder brother Brenden (the famously dubbed “Medford Messi”) had a rather poor stay in the Bundesliga.

An unsuccessful loan stint with Union Berlin during the 2023/24 season saw Brenden score just two goals in 30 top flight appearances. Brenden saw his estimated market value decline from €18m to €12m during that time.
