Potential German title challengers Eintracht Frankfurt have taken care of business in Denmark, securing their sixth consecutive win on-the-trot with a 2-1 victory over FC Midtjylland in the Europa League. Omar Marmoush set up an early goal and scored another from the spot to help the German UEL representatives win their fourth win of the competition and remain undefeated through five rounds. After drawing their first 2024/25 Europa League match, Eintracht have now won four straight.

As expected, Toppmöller lined up his charges in a 4-4-2 formation. After an interruption-laden opening few minutes, one of the new starters was able to help ensure that the German guests took the lead on their first chance of the game. Young Swedish midfielder Hugo Larsson popped in the 1-0 in the 7th after a nice play-in from Hugo Ekitiké and an a crisp one-two with Marmoush.

Eintracht proceeded to effectively keep the game under control well past the half-hour-mark, letting their guard down slightly over the final 15 minutes of the opening 45. SGE keeper Kevin Trapp contributed a pair of solid saves before the first half was out. Marmoush and Niels Nkounkou missed the best chances to make it 2-0.

Midtjylland equalized shortly after the restart when Nnamdi Collins inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net in the 48th. The German Eagles did not have to wait long to retake the lead, however, as a handball penalty in the 52nd enabled Marmoush to score the 2-1 from the spot in the 57th.

The Danes managed to make a late push for an equalizer via a pair of chances from lead-striker Adam Buska, but the Polish marksman could only send two efforts in the last ten minutes wide. Toppmöller's crew hung on.
