After taking some time to settle in following his summer move from FC Nürnberg, Nathaniel Brown has established himself as a key player for Eintracht Frankfurt.

In February, Eintracht opted to extend Brown's contract by a further year until 2030 - and sporting director Timmo Hardung makes no secret of the fact that this was a reward for the left-back's fine performances.

"No player automatically gets a contract extension after a few good games. It was different with 'Nene', so we approached him. As a result, his contract with Eintracht was extended by one year and adjusted according to his performance," Hardung told Fussball.news.

"'Nene' feels very comfortable with us. On his way, which wasn't perfect at the beginning, he realized what our great strength is. Even in this difficult phase, we believed in him, kept the pressure off him and kept our promises. Thanks to his hard work and professional attitude, Nene has reached his current level. He's doing really well.

Despite the justified euphoria, Hardung is wary of expecting too much from the 21-year-old.

"We have to remember that ‘Nene’ is still young. There will be games and periods where he doesn't play that well - that's normal. That shouldn't throw him off track.

“He still has a lot ahead of him in his career if he continues to work with focus and remains humble.”

Brown has scored three goals and provided five assists in 18 Bundesliga matches for Eintracht Frankfurt this season.
