How will the 2025/26 Premier League table look at the end of the season?
Eight journalists have been asked the question.
Each of them asked to list, one to twenty, in which order the clubs will finish after the 38 rounds of matches.
Then a collective final 2025/26 Premier League table published below, based on the predictions of the eight.
Less than a week to go until the action begins.
The Athletic report – 11 August 2025:
The eight journalists from The Athletic are – Oliver Kay, Adam Crafton, Tim Spiers, Nick Miller, Simon Hughes, Stuart James, Ayo Akinwolere and Cerys Jones.
As well as predicting the final 2025/26 Premier League table, the journalists were also asked a number of other questions about the upcoming season.
I have picked out a few of the replies that saw Newcastle United mentioned, with the predicted final 2025/26 Premier League table listed afterwards.
Who will be worse than last season?
Oliver Kay:
“Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Brentford could all be excused a slight drop-off after exceeding expectations last season, particularly as the first two will have European commitments to contend with.”
Nick Miller:
“Newcastle. At the time of writing, they don’t have a striker who actually wants to play for them, have strengthened in a couple of positions they were already fine in, and their transfer targets are all picking other teams. Not ideal when you have the Champions League to deal with, too.”
Which game in the opening weeks will tell us a lot about the season to come?
Adam Crafton:
“Newcastle versus Liverpool in the second week. And, sorry Eddie, I am not available to play up front.”
The final 2025/26 Premier League table based on the predictions of the eight journalists:
Arsenal
Man City
Chelsea
Newcastle United
Spurs
Villa
Man U
Brighton
Bournemouth
Palace
Forest
Fulham
Everton
West Ham
Brentford
Leeds
Sunderland
Wolves
Burnley
Interesting to see that despite so much negativity amongst many Newcastle United fans ahead of the new season, these eight neutral (not Newcastle supporters) journalists still see United repeating last season’s fifth place finish, which would very likely mean a third Champions League qualification in four seasons.
Fair to say that the vast majority of Newcastle United fans would take this predicted final table if offered it now. A top five finish for Newcastle United and instant relegation for Sunderland, what’s not to like?
