Boca Juniors earned another three points on Friday evening thanks to a 3-0 win over 10-man Central Córdoba at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades.
Scorers: Gimenez 16', Florentin 36' (OG), Merential 89'. Red: Galvan 45+9'
Despite the hosts producing more efforts in front of goal, they had nothing to show for it while Boca Juniors converted three goals from four shots on target, proving efficiency was the key trait tonight.
Milton Gimenez broke the deadlock when Ander Herrera picked out a beautiful ball over the top and found the No. 9. Gimenez's initial touch say the ball bounce off goalkeeper Alan Aguerre, but even still, he poked home on the rebound.
The second goal later arrived thanks to a bit of luck on Boca's behalf. Defender Jose Florentin put the ball in his own net after confusion at the back with team-mate Santiago Moyano and Aguerre.
Moments later, more disaster struck for Cordoba. The hosts were down to 10 men when defender Jonathan Galván saw his yellow card change to red after kicking out at Herrera.
Boca Juniors went on to control possession of the match but struggled to add to the scoresheet despite the man advantage throughout the entire second half. Fortunately, a late goal from Miguel Merentiel wrapped up the victory as he beat Aguerre at the near post.
The result means Boca Juniors sit second in the table behind leaders Argentinos Juniors. Cordoba, meanwhile, are seventh.
