Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has praised Sours manager Ange Postecoglou after receiving his second call-up to the England national team.

The 27-year-old has endured a slow start to life at Tottenham, but he has shown glimpses of his goalscoring prowess in recent outings.

Solanke has been in impressive form for Spurs, earning him a spot in the England squad for November’s Nations League games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

The former Bournemouth marksman credited club manager Postecoglou for his recent form and named him as a key reason behind his decision to join Spurs.

“He’s a great manager,” Solanke told reporters (via talkSPORT). “He’s one of the reasons why I was so keen to join Tottenham.

“The way he plays definitely suits my style as well, so it’s like for like. Obviously, you see, the way he plays is very aggressive, on the front foot, very high, which I enjoy doing.

“I enjoy pressing, so like he said, it’s a great fit.”

Solanke looking to impress for England

Solanke’s start to his Spurs career was hampered by injury problems, but he shook them off to grab his first goal in the 3-1 victory over Brentford.

He has since taken his tally to three goals and two assists in eight games across all competitions and has vowed to keep improving to better his 19-goal haul for Bournemouth last term.

“I feel like I’m improving and learning every day,” he added. “Last season was a great season, but I’m looking to build on that this year and better that.

“The season is still early, so hopefully, I can stay fit and keep improving.”

Solanke will be hoping to get the nod when England face Greece in the Nations League at Wembley Stadium on Thursday.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker has only one cap to his name and will be hoping to open his goalscoring account for England.
