Barry Ferguson made strategic alterations this afternoon while fielding his side against Celtic. The interim Rangers chief switched to a ‘back four’ and restored the likes of Connor Barron and Nedim Bajrami, who lately lost their starting status.

Despite creating more chances, the Light Blues only settled for a draw when Adam Idah’s second-half strike cancelled out Cyriel Dessers’ opener. They might have lost the league race to their bitter rivals, but dominated the Old Firm battle this season on head-to-head with just one defeat in four Premiership encounters.

Below are the Rangers players rated in their 1-1 against Celtic.

Liam Kelly: 7.5

Made a couple of crucial saves in the first half. Could have done little to stop Idah’s deflected strike leading to Celtic’s equaliser around the hour mark. Denied Daizen Maeda and saved the Gers from suffering a defeat moments before the final whistle.

James Tavernier: 6

Another below-par performance from the skipper, who was initially at fault with an awful clearance during Idah’s goal. Almost cost them a last-gasp goal; however, onrushing Maeda could not capitalise on the mistake.

John Souttar: 7

Had a decent game in the heart of the backline. Dominated the duels and made some key recoveries and no-nonsense clearances throughout the contest. Threw himself in the early minutes to deny Idah’s attempt on goal.

Leon Balogun: 7.5

Hit the woodwork in the early seconds. He was spot on with a challenge minutes later, as he nicked the ball away from James Forrest and made some crucial interceptions and clearances.

Jefte: 7

Balanced his game between defence and attack. Made occasional overlapping runs to link up with Bajrami and Dessers. Did not let Forrest or Yang cause a menace from the flank.

Connor Barron: 7.5

Showed his composure in the middle of the park both with and without the ball. Marshalled the backline and played his part in building the game up from the back by carrying the ball forward.

Nicolas Raskin: 8

Another exquisite performance from the Belgian midfield ace who was a constant threat with his down-the-middle runs and dribbles. Forced Viljami Sinisalo to make a couple of massive saves in the Celtic goal.

Vaclav Cerny: 7

His smart dummy led to Dessers’ late first-half goal. Did not offer much after the break and was eventually replaced by Hamza Igamane midway through the second half.

Mohamed Diomande: 8

Showcased an all-round display even though he was deployed as a ‘number 10′. His tackles and duels saw the Gers regain possession in midfield. Also, his through passes and dribbles often opened up space in the Hoops’ defence. Laid it on for Dessers, who made no mistake in finding the target. Was taken off for Danilo in the second-half injury time.

Nedim Bajrami: 6

Was handed an opportunity to impress from the left-hand flank. Tried to link up and combine with Jefte while cutting inside and whipping in crosses, but the lack of impact high up the pitch eventually saw him being replaced by Ianis Hagi.

Cyriel Dessers: 7.5

Did not have many touches while spearheading the attack. But he showed his poaching trait while breaking the deadlock.
