Dieter Hecking to recieve a two year contract extension at Bochum – if they avoid relegation | OneFootball

Bochum have announced that head coach Dieter Hecking is set to receive a contract extension at the club, under one condition.

Since the arrival of the veteran head coach, Bochum have gone from relegation being a near certainty to have a chance of survival. Hecking’s time at the Ruhrstadion has seen impressive results against Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, as well as most recently an unlikely 3-2 comeback win against Bayern Munich, at the Allianz Arena.

As things stand, Bochum are currently 16th in the Bundesliga and are five points off of safety. In their final eight games, Bochum play Union Berlin, Heidenheim, and a final-day clash with St.Pauli, which could be the decider.

Elsewhere, Hecking is set to be reunited with Jörg Schmadtke. The former Wolfsburg sporting director is set to take up a role with the club. Hecking and Schmadtke have previously worked together at both Hannover 96 and Alemmania Aachen.
