Barcelona star Gavi sought out Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez on the back of the meeting between the two sides last night.

That’s according to Diario AS, citing Sport, who have provided an insight into the details of a brief exchange between the pair.

Barcelona, of course, made short work of their arch rivals on Sunday, thanking goals on the part of all of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha (2) and Alejandro Balde for an eventual 5-2 Spanish Super Cup triumph.

Gavi, for his part, featured from the off in the clash, playing an important role for the Blaugrana for the 2nd game in succession.

This marked a major step forward for the youngster, amid ongoing efforts to rediscover his brilliant best following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Following the full-time whistle in Jeddah on Sunday, Gavi was therefore keen to make clear his appreciation for one of those to have supported him during the early weeks of his recovery.

As per Sport, after Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez sent a heartfelt letter of encouragement to the 20-year-old late last year, Gavi sought out the Spanish patron on Sunday, to deliver the following message:

“I wanted to thank you for the letter you sent me when I was injured.”
