According to The Athletic, the Reds are weighing up offers for the 20-year-old as we approach the final stages of the summer transfer window.

Gordon spent last season out on loan with both Norwich City and Portsmouth, earning 15 appearances in the Championship across the two stints.

He is not a part of Arne Slot’s first team plans for the new campaign, and was not selected as part of the side that won 4-2 against Bournemouth last Friday.

It has been reported that both Derby and Swansea are considering moves for Gordon before the 1 September deadline.

It’s understood that Liverpool are weighing up their options, with a loan move likely before the market shuts.

The Reds are trying to figure out the remaining steps of their summer business, with their plans set on outgoings.

A number of young players are gaining attention from the second tier, with the Rams and the Swans looking at Gordon.

It remains unclear what the player’s preference is at this stage, but a temporary departure is expected.

Gordon played 10 times for Norwich in the Championship last season before moving to Portsmouth in January, where he played a further five times in the division.

Kaide Gordon’s Derby experience

Gordon came through the academy system at Derby, even making his league debut for the club at the age of just 16, coming off the bench in a 4-0 win over Birmingham City in the Championship during the 2020/21 season.

The youngster made the switch to Liverpool in February 2021, where he has made a total of seven appearances in all competitions for the Premier League side.

The 20-year-old earned his top flight debut in a 3-0 win over Brentford in January 2022 at the age of 18, coming off the bench in the closing stages of the victory.

But he has struggled to make a major breakthrough at Anfield, not even making the squad for their win over the Cherries last weekend.

Derby must have the edge in race for Gordon’s signature

Gordon knows Derby, having come through the academy system there before signing for Liverpool.

That must give the Rams the edge over Swansea in the race for his signature this summer, as it should be easier to transition to John Eustace’s squad due to his knowledge of the club.

It’s clear that Gordon needs regular game time to develop, having been unable to make any major breakthroughs at Liverpool.

His priority should be finding a club that will give him consistent minutes as a starter this season, which may actually be at Swansea instead of Derby given the attacking options at Pride Park.
