Caleb Porter was clearly not happy with how his first season in New England went and is making it a point this off-season to revamp the roster. As mentioned in a previous article on our site, the largest move so far for the Revs has to come in terms of trading for Leo Campana from Inter Miami. The Revolution traded $2.5m in GAM, a potential for another $750k in GAM, and an international roster spot to Inter Miami for the 24 year old Ecuadorian international forward. Last season, Campana had 9 goals and 2 assists for Inter Miami across all competitions while he split time with Luis Suarez for time at striker. I’d expect Campana to take over as the starting 9 in Caleb Porter’s system in 2025.
The Revs have also made some moves in free agency by adding three experienced MLSers; Jackson Yueill, Alex Bono, and Tanner Beason. The 27 year old Yueill has over 230 career games played for San Jose where he has played his entire career so far. In those games he has 31 career goal contributions and has earned various U.S. international call-ups. Last season, Yueill logged almost 3,000 minutes for the Quakes across all competitions. Veteran goalkeeper Alex Bono joins New England in what I’d assume would be a backup role to Ivacic. The 30 year old Bono is a former MLS Cup, Supporters Shield, and 4x Canadian Championship winner. Last season, Bono made 32 appearances in net for D.C. United across all competitions for the club. Lastly in free agency, the Revolution signed 27 year old centerback Tanner Beason. Similar to Yueill, Beason has played his entire pro career with the San Jose Earthquakes. The former Stanford Cardinal has logged almost 9,000 career minutes in over 120 games for San Jose. The Quakes were not only signing Beason to their centerback core, as they also signed 23 year old Brayan Ceballos from Fortaleza in Brazil. Ceballos is coming off of a loan stint at Dynamo Kyiv in the Ukraine where he scored 1 goal in 4 appearances for the club. The former Ecuadorian youth international has previously won the Ecuadorian 1st division with Junior FC.
The club hasn’t just acquired a ton, Caleb Porter has also made moves to get rid of talent that he didn’t bring into the club. Porter and the Revs traded away Dave Romney, Mark Anthony Kaye, and Ian Harkes to the San Jose Earthquakes for $500k in GAM and an international roster spot. In a separate trade, the Revs also traded away goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. to San Jose for $150k in GAM. The club spent a lot in GAM in the trade for Leo Campana and getting rid of 4 players that Porter clearly wasn’t a fan of for $650k in GAM seems like a smart move. Moves like this also cleared up a ton in salary for them to bring in the likes of Jackson Yueill and previous off-season signing Mamadou Fofana.
