Dawid Kownacki moves on loan to Hertha BSC

Just before SV Werder Bremen head to Zillertal for their pre-season training camp, striker Dawid Kownacki has left the club to join second-division side Hertha BSC on a season-long loan. Head of professional Peter Niemeyer confirmed the news on Monday.

“This move to Hertha for the coming season offers Dawid the opportunity for lots of football, something which would definitely have been difficult for him here, so this is a sensible move for him. We will keep a close eye on his progress in Berlin and wish him the best of success with Hertha,” explained Niemeyer.

The 28-year-old arrived in Bremen in 2023 from Fortuna Düsseldorf. After making 22 appearances for Werder, Kownacki returned on loan to Fortuna last season, scoring 13 goals in 29 games.
