Arsenal Weigh Eze Move as Arteta Targets Triple Attack Boost

Eze Considered as Key Part of Arsenal’s Summer Plans

Arsenal’s summer transfer strategy is beginning to take shape and one name rising up the shortlist is Eberechi Eze. As reported by David Ornstein in The Athletic, “One situation to keep an eye on is Arsenal and Eberechi Eze. The 27-year-old is among the options being considered as Mikel Arteta’s side seek a versatile attacker.”

Eze fits the profile Arteta values highly: intelligent in possession, adaptable across multiple roles and technically gifted. He can operate on either flank or through the centre, offering a new layer of flexibility to an Arsenal side that, for all their defensive strength, lacked variety and threat in the final third.

Last season, Arsenal boasted the meanest defence in the Premier League for the second year running but scored only 69 league goals. That figure was 17 fewer than title winners Liverpool and just five more than 17th-placed Tottenham. The message is clear: goals win titles, and Arsenal need more of them.

No Contact Yet But Interest is Serious

According to Ornstein, “No contact has yet been made with Crystal Palace, but serious consideration is being given to the idea at the Emirates.” While discussions between clubs are yet to begin, the groundwork appears to be in place.

Eze reportedly has a release clause of £68 million, though Arsenal are expected to negotiate a lower fee or structure the payment in instalments. “The England forward has a release clause in his contract, but Arsenal would be looking to do a deal at a lower price.”

TEAMtalk suggests Crystal Palace would accept a bid with £45 million paid upfront, with the remainder staggered over future windows. That would be a logical compromise in a market where smart structuring can be the difference between deals done and deals missed.

Targets Beyond Eze Show Ambition

Ornstein’s reporting also clarifies that Eze is not a fallback or a compromise. “It is unclear whether a sale would need to happen first to facilitate a move, but this would be separate to their pursuit of a striker and left winger.” In other words, Eze is part of a broader attacking upgrade, not a replacement for other targets.

Rodrygo, Anthony Gordon and Nico Williams remain under consideration for the left-sided role. Of those, Williams looks set for Barcelona after agreeing personal terms. Up front, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are the two names at the top of the list.

If Arsenal can execute this triple move, it could transform their frontline from methodical to menacing. The potential arrival of Eze adds not only creativity but also the ability to unsettle low blocks, a regular stumbling block for Arteta’s team last term.

Eze Ready for a Step Up

With 11 goals and four assists in the Premier League last season, Eze has shown his maturity as both a creator and scorer. His performances under Oliver Glasner, especially after Roy Hodgson’s exit, have elevated him into one of the most rounded attacking talents in the division.

Tottenham are not actively pursuing the player, while other clubs remain at a distance. “No other clubs have the same level of interest at the moment and he is not a player Tottenham Hotspur have been working to bring in,” wrote Ornstein. That could offer Arsenal a rare window of opportunity.

The only question now is whether they move quickly enough to close it.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

For Arsenal, Eberechi Eze ticks nearly every box. He is Premier League proven, homegrown, and tactically versatile. We’ve needed someone who can glide through tight spaces, beat a man in one-on-one duels and link play through the middle and wide areas. Eze does that.

The idea that he is being targeted alongside a left winger and striker is what excites most. This shows that the club is no longer settling for incremental gains. They want firepower and depth. We were too predictable last season and too reliant on Saka and Odegaard for creative output.

Eze brings something different, something spontaneous. His decision-making has matured and his goals tally is improving. If the club can negotiate a smart deal that doesn’t jeopardise moves for Rodrygo or Sesko, it’s a no-brainer.

For once, Arsenal are acting like a club ready to win now. Eze is the type of talent that bridges the gap between contenders and champions.
