The dates have been set for City’s UEFA Champions League knockout phase play-off tie with Real Madrid.
We will host the Spanish side at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 11 February, before travelling to the Spanish capital for the second leg on Wednesday 19 February.
Both matches will kick off at 20:00 (UK).
We are in this round having finished 22nd in the league phase of the competition’s new format, with all sides from ninth to 24th playing for the right to join the top eight in the Round of 16.
The winner of our tie will face either Atletico Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16. That will be decided in a draw on 21 February, with those matches to be played in the first half of March.
This play-off will be the fifth two-legged tie between City and Real Madrid in the last six seasons, with both sides progressing through two of the previous four stretching back to 2019/20.
Last season’s meeting ended in a penalty shootout at the Etihad, with Real coming through and eventually going on to lift the trophy itself.
The 2022/23 campaign saw a semi-final demolition of Real at the Etihad in one of the greatest European nights in the Club’s history on the way to winning an historic Treble.
Now, we’ll have a new chapter to one of Europe’s great modern matchups.
Ticket details for these upcoming matches will be confirmed in due course.
