Dani Olmo talks Barcelona return, Flick, Fermin, Gavi, title aspirations – ‘This is only the beginning’ | OneFootball

With less than a week remaining before 2024 comes to an end, there is much anxiety in the Barcelona camp surrounding the registration of Dani Olmo.

The club have until December 31 to formally register Olmo, failing which the Spaniard could become a free agent on January 1.

Barcelona are working on several economic levers that might help them register Olmo. But the player himself appears very calm about his future and is thinking about the challenges ahead for Barça.

Olmo talks everything Barcelona

In a recent interview, Olmo talked about his time in Barcelona so far and the road ahead.

“This year has been very special, but this is only the beginning. I feel that there is still a lot to do,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

“I want to win titles with Barça and with the national team.”

Olmo joined Barcelona in the summer, in a deal worth €55 million. Recalling his decision to join Barça, the playmaker said he didn’t even hesitate in opting to join the Catalans.

“There were other options, but when Barça came up with this initiative, I didn’t hesitate. Coming home, with my family and friends, was a dream come true and now I can make it a reality,” he said.

Olmo revealed that the idea of playing at Camp Nou was another factor that convinced him to join Barcelona.

“Being able to play as well, just like playing at the Spotify Camp Nou with players like Frenkie, Robert or Ronald. We have a great team and we hope to bring a lot of joy to our fans,” he added.

Barcelona are expected to return to Spotify Camp Nou in early 2025. The club were initially tipped to return around March 2025, but there have been significant delays since.

Olmo, meanwhile, also touched upon the relationship he has with Fermin Lopez and Gavi, his juniors at La Masia.

“I knew Fermin and Gavi, they were very young and being able to reach the first team is very special for everyone,” he said.

Finally, Olmo talked about Barcelona’s new coach, Hansi Flick and his role in shaping the season so far.

“He knows me perfectly from the Bundesliga because we play against each other there. Wherever I play and wherever I am, I will always try to give my best,” he concluded.
