Cushing shares injury update ahead of Manchester derby | OneFootball

Nick Cushing says Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood are in good shape ahead of this weekend’s Manchester derby.

The England pair played their first game of the year in last weekend's 1-0 win over Leicester and could start against the Reds.

The interim City boss also had positive news on Laura Blindkilde Brown and Aoba Fujino, who have both returned to training this week.

The Blues travel to Old Trafford needing to win to keep our Champions League hopes alive, and potentially having a quartet of important players available again could be a huge boost for Cushing’s side.

“[Lauren and Alex] have been back in as normal,” said Cushing.

“It’s been nice to get Laura and Aoba in training this week so that for the group has been a big lift.”

Asked if Blindkilde Brown and Fujino could feature at some stage against United, Cushing said: “I wouldn’t have anyone in training who isn’t ready to be in the squad.

“They are training so in contention. They have to be assessed by the medical team.

“We’ve trained hard and aggressively this week. So it’s positive they’ve been in training.”
