Palace boss dismisses ‘nonsense’ claims and says Guehi ‘was upset’ at Stamford Bridge
Oliver Glasner has dismissed the “nonsense” claims that Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi ignored him after their 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
Video footage emerged of Guehi walking off the pitch at Stamford Bridge despite Glasner calling his name.
Glaser then appeared to speak to Jean-Philippe Mateta about the interaction, which Sky Sports picked up on after the game.
But Glasner said: “I’ve seen so much nonsense written about this.
“Marc was upset that he didn’t win the game and I loved this. It’s the best sign that he could show of how ambitious we are.”
Guehi, whose contract expires next summer, is wanted by Liverpool.
Palace were denied victory against Chelsea after Eberechi Eze had a first-half free-kick ruled out by VAR.
Glasner said: "He was emotional after this game, exhausted. He was disappointed the goal was disallowed, that we did not win. It was written in a negative way, I see it as the opposite.
"This shows the development of Crystal Palace in the last few years, that we are not happy with just a draw at Chelsea.”
Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson added to Glasner’s sentiments, praising Eze and Guehi for their professionalism.
Henderson said: "Great lads. They are still committed and professional. It showed in the Chelsea game. Both of them were phenomenal in that game.
"They will stay committed throughout and be there to help the team. They are part of us at the minute, and we will keep enjoying it."
