Crystal Palace have approached Leicester City over a deal for Bilal El Khannouss as Eberechi Eze’s future increasingly lies away from Selhurst Park, according to The Athletic.
Eze has been one of Palace’s standout performers in recent seasons due to his ability to influence games.
However, his contributions have attracted significant interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, who are both keen on signing him this summer.
With Eze’s departure looming, Palace are already working on a potential replacement to fill the creative void he will inevitably leave behind, and El Khannouss has emerged as the top target.
The Moroccan international midfielder joined Leicester from Belgian side Genk for £19 million last year.
Despite Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League last season, El Khannouss gave a good account of himself with his technical ability.
While no official offer has been submitted, Palace are in discussions with Leicester to explore a potential deal which could accelerate in the coming days.
El Khannouss’s rise has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with Premier League newcomers Leeds United also interested in securing his services.
He was left out of Leicester’s starting XI for their League Cup defeat to Huddersfield Town, although he did come off the bench to miss his spot-kick during the shoot-out.
El Khannouss served up a man-of-the-match display in his side’s Championship curtain raiser against Sheffield Wednesday, supplying two assists en route to a comeback 2-1 victory.
