AC Milan only made one move in June, redeeming and renewing Alex Jimenez, but the transfer window will open tomorrow and the goal is clear: at least one signing per department. Indeed, the targets are also clear.

The Rossoneri announced the redemption of Jimenez on Friday afternoon and while that was the right move, fans were expecting more from the month of June as a whole. However, as highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the window will officially open tomorrow and should result in some movement.

Milan are set to make at least one signing per department and the goals are clear, with above all three positions to reinforce…

Right-back and a No.9

In defence, Milan are expected to add a right-back to the squad and Tottenham’s Emerson Royal is one of the top targets. He has a price tag of €20m and it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri are willing to pay this, but Fonseca has specifically requested a right-back.

The negotiations for Joshua Zirkzee, meanwhile, have hit a standstill due to the high commission request of €15m and Manchester United could also enter the frame. Tomorrow, the release clause of €40m will officially be active and we could thus see some progress very soon.

Of course, Milan are following several strikers and not just the Dutchman, but a lot of work has been put into signing the latter so it would be a shame to miss out in the end

Midfield balance needed

In addition to a right-back and a striker, a defensive midfielder is a must for Milan and Youssouf Fofana is currently in pole position. He’s currently at the Euros with France so nothing will be made official before the adventure ends, but the Rossoneri are pushing.

Monaco value him at €25m but Milan are convinced that they can get a discount of around €7m, taking the price down to €18m. The midfielder’s contract will expire next summer and he has also made it clear to the French side that he wants to leave this summer.

Milan are ahead of the competition and must make the most of this, avoiding a last-minute takeover by PSG or a Premier League team. The alternatives to Fofana are Pierre-Emil Hojbjerg and Mats Wieffer, while Adrien Rabiot is more of an opportunity than anything.
