Sergio Conceicao started his life as AC Milan head coach well, beating Juventus 2-1 in Saudi Arabia in the Supercoppa Italiana, but it was not an inspiring 90 minutes.

Milan did something that they have not often done this season, perhaps even in the past two seasons, on Friday night. A win where they struggled for the majority of the game, but got the job done against a strong side.

The first 45 minutes were far from inspiring, with the Rossoneri looking beyond lacklustre, and today, Corriere della Sera (via Milan News) have revealed what was said by Conceicao in the dressing room.

Before some tactical video work, the Portuguese coach shouted at his team, stating the following, “Guys, this is no good. This was the old Milan. If we want to win, we have to have courage and take our chances. Don’t worry: if we lose 3-0 or 4-0 it will be my fault, mine alone. But enough with the fear. You are strong, put that in your heads.”

After the game, the head coach admitted that his half-time team talk had not been positive, but refused to change his ways.

If results follow though, no one will complain, as his words kickstarted the comeback, and now a Derby della Madonnina will take place for the trophy.
