Manchester City welcome rivals Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium this weekend in a mammoth contest for both sides when it comes to their respective seasons.
City have won just one of their last 10 matches across all competitions, losing seven contests in that time and come into this weekend’s clash against Ruben Amorim’s side off the back of a 2-0 away loss in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
The meeting with the Old Trafford club is one of four remaining Premier League fixtures in 2024 with Pep Guardiola and his players desperate to turn a corner in their season and begin to mount a stronger pursuit of silverware in the new year.
As for Manchester United, they are undergoing a transitional period under new head coach Ruben Amorim, and having seen Erik ten Hag replaced in November the Red Devils have won three of their six matches under the former Sporting boss.
City continue to battle fixtures with a heavily depleted squad and particularly in defence, with Guardiola seeing all of Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, and John Stones battle problems in recent matches and Rico Lewis taking on a suspension for this weekend’s match.
Those issues add to Rodri and Oscar Bobb’s long-term injury problems and the pair are not expected to return to any form of Manchester City training ground duties until the New Year as part of recovery plans.
Ahead of kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, here is how both Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim have lined up their respective Manchester City and Manchester United sides in Premier League action!
