Club World Cup: A club sets sights on this Beninese player
Having arrived at Tartu JK Welco in February 2025, competing in Estonia’s second division, Samidou Bawa could already be on the move this summer. The Benin U20 international has caught the strong interest of a club that featured in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
According to information from Foot-Africa, it’s the Seattle Sounders, a team from the MLS Western Conference. The American club, winners of the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League, have entered into concrete negotiations with Tartu JK Welco. Talks are progressing well, and both parties seem open to striking a deal.
The young Beninese striker, who previously played for Dragons FC and ASPAC, has been making waves since his arrival in Estonia. With 7 goals and 5 assists in 17 matches (including 16 starts in all competitions), Samidou Bawa was also named Player of the Month for May. Should negotiations succeed, the “chouchou de Tourou” from northern Benin could soon join one of the most consistent clubs in Major League Soccer.
