MIAMI — The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup continues Tuesday with the start of the quarterfinals, highlighted by another edition of Mexico’s Clásico Joven as Club América hosts Cruz Azul.

LA Galaxy will host Tigres UANL in the second match of the night. Each side will seek to take a first step towards the semifinals, with teams also weary of the importance of attaining away goals.

Club América vs. Cruz Azul

Crosstown rivals Club América and Cruz Azul face off at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico.

This series also pits two of the winningest clubs in the tournament as América are the all-time leaders with seven titles. Cruz Azul has won the Champions Cup six times, tied for second with 2024 winners CF Pachuca.

América entered the 2025 edition in the Round of 16 by winning consecutive Liga MX titles. Las Águilas began their campaign with a 4-1 win on aggregate another of its rivals, CD Guadalajara. Brian Rodríguez shined in the second leg with the opening goal and an essential role in creating the next two goals that led the defending Liga MX champions to seal the series.

Cruz Azul began its campaign in Round One with a 7-nil win on aggregate against Real Hope FA. The team continued its scoring rhythm in the Round of 16 with a 4-1 win on aggregate against Seattle Sounders FC. Ángel Sepúlveda leads the top scorer race with four goals in the 2025 edition.

LA Galaxy vs. Tigres UANL

Reigning MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy host Tigres UANL at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, USA.

As league champions, LA Galaxy began its campaign in the Round of 16 against CS Herediano. The MLS side came back from a 1-nil loss in the first leg to win 4-2 on aggregate, with goals from Julián Aude, Miguel Berry, Gabriel Pec, and Christian Ramirez.

Tigres UANL began its campaign in Round One with a 3-1 win on aggregate against Real Estelí. The Mexican side leaned on its home field for a consecutive time to defeat FC Cincinnati 4-2 in the Round of 16. Ozziel Herrera and Nicolás Ibáñez lead the side in scoring with two goals each.
