Chiefs player leaves Amakhosi without playing a single minute for the team!
Marking the end of one of the strangest stories in South Africa in recent seasons, Bongani Sam announced his departure from Kaizer Chiefs without even playing a single minute for the first team - and what a surprise it was. Bongani's departure makes him the sixth player to leave the club in this summer's transfer window.
The 27-year-old joined the Glamour Boys looking to reignite his career, but things didn't go as he had hoped, and even when he was signed, the move raised eyebrows as he hadn't played regularly for the past six months.
His last appearance for the team was in December 2023, and his last appearance for Bafana Bafana was in the first leg against Egypt in the last CHAN tournament.
Although the Chiefs signed several names last season, including Sam, he was the only one who never managed to prove himself with the team in this period, and after being ignored by the coaching staff, it was eventually confirmed that he was not included in the coaching staff's choices at all.

In a telling sign of his diminished status at Naturena, defender Wayde Jooste found himself completely frozen out last season - even during Chiefs' desperate left-back crisis that forced coach Nabi to deploy center-backs out of position rather than call upon the experienced fullback.
The 31-year-old's career at Amakhosi never gained momentum after his controversial cross-town move from Orlando Pirates, where he had similarly struggled for game time. Despite signing a lucrative three-year deal with an option for extension in 2022, Jooste managed just seven starts before being loaned out twice - first to Maritzburg United, then Moroka Swallows.
FARPost can exclusively reveal Jooste's Chiefs chapter has now officially closed, with the defender conspicuously absent when the squad reported for pre-season training last Friday. His abrupt departure leaves questions about the club's recruitment strategy and handling of squad players.
