The Athletic’s DealSheet is back for this week, with a lot of information about Chelsea’s moves over the next two months.
The Blues have bought players already to add to their sizable squad, and now moving players on is a priority. We’ve already written a little about the desire to sell Renato Veiga, who couldn’t find a natural place in the group that he was happy with. But what about the loan options?
Omari Kellyman features in the warmup for Chelsea.
Simon Johnson, who wrote the Chelsea section, names 3 players off the bat who are ready to go. Omari Kellyman, who was bought a year ago for £19m in one of the most bizarre deals of this ownership so far, is apparently “being lined up for a loan,” although it’s not clear he will be going.
He just needs to play consistently after a full year out of action, and we would imagine the Championship is the most likely desintation.
Two players who have their next stop sorted already are Kendy Paez and Mathis Amougou. They will spent next season on loan at our sister club Strasbourg.
They have big shoes to fill – Amougou in particular will be replacing Andrey Santos in midfield after his sensational 18 months spell. Liam Rosenior’s team are also set to lose fellow midfielder Habib Diarra to Sunderland, which has some worrying signs for the season ahead. That’s compounded by their loss of Djordje Petrovic, who we will also look to sell; and Mamadou Sarr who we have signed ourselves.
It will be very interesting to see how they strengthen, beyond these two raw young loanees. It was always going to be tough to match last year’s magical season, but now it looks impossible given the heart of the team is ripped out.
