PSG could be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer if they decide not to extend Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract. That uncertainty has already sparked links to several potential replacements, including a veteran from Barcelona.
The Parisians have a key decision to make, and clubs like Inter Milan and Manchester United are closely monitoring the situation. Is Donnarumma still the long-term answer in goal?
The Italian is under contract through 2026, but interest from some of Europe’s biggest sides is starting to grow. Since joining PSG from AC Milan in 2021, Donnarumma has come through in big moments, especially in shootouts and high-pressure matches. But his time in Paris hasn’t been without setbacks.
One moment that still lingers is his high-profile error against Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League, which cast doubt on his reliability in crucial games.
Now that PSG have finally reached the top of European football, attention turns to what’s next. Donnarumma’s recent performances have solidified his status as the club’s No. 1, but with his deal entering its final stretch, the pressure is on to reach an agreement—or risk losing him while other clubs wait in the wings.

CaughtOffside reported Wednesday that Chelsea are still exploring options in the goalkeeper market, with Barcelona’s German keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen among the names they’re keeping an eye on.
The report also notes, citing sources, that Manchester United have looked into the 33-year-old as they search for a potential replacement for Andre Onana.
BILD has linked PSG to ter Stegen if he ends up leaving Barcelona. Other clubs reportedly interested in Donnarumma include AC Milan, Manchester City, Juventus, and Newcastle United.
While speaking to La Vanguardia, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco commented on the future of ter Stegen.
“I don’t need to speak with ter Stegen,” Deco said. “My job is to build the best possible squad for the coach, not deciding who plays. No contract guarantees anyone a starting spot. It’s the coach who makes those decisions.”
