Chelsea are determined to win the race to sign River Plate’s teenage star Franco Mastantuono according to reports.

The Blues are gearing up for another busy summer and could look to fund their business by selling as many as seven or eight players.

Chelsea face a critical window as they look to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea determined to win Mastantuono race

The Blues are in desperate need of players with proven quality and experience to come in and improve the first team ahead of next season.

The last thing Chelsea fans will want to see is the club being linked with more young players who are yet to prove themselves at the top level.

However, that appears to be the case with Caught Offside reporting the Blues are determined to win the race to sign 17-year-old River Plate attacking midfielder.

The report adds the Blues will likely face competition from Premier League winners Liverpool and Spanish giants Real Madrid, whilst Manchester United, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be interested in the youngster.

It’s believed the attacking midfielder has a release clause of £38m in his contract, but a member of the River Plate board has insisted he’s not leaving this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has reported the Blues are well informed about the Mastantuono deal, and the teenager is set to feature at the Club World Cup this summer.

Chelsea continue youth recruitment policy

Mastantuono isn’t the only youngster Chelsea have been linked with and they are said to be leading the race for Lorient midfielder Arthur Avom.

The Blues already have Estevao and Paez arriving this summer, along with 20-year-old midfielder Dario Essugo, whilst Geovany Quenda will arrive in 2026.

Chelsea has no doubt secured some of the world’s top young talent, but the challenge facing them now is providing an environment for them to flourish in and proving there’s a pathway to the first team.

Of course only a few will make it, whilst the Blues will hope the ones that don’t will have done well enough to at least give them a chance of making a profit.
