Chelsea appear to be leading the race to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, with Arsenal and Bayern Munich also showing strong interest in the former PSG midfielder.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig paid €80 million for Simons, including €55 million up front, when they signed the 22-year-old, who is under contract until June 2027. PSG also included a sell-on clause in the deal, meaning they will earn a percentage of any future sale.
The French club has already benefited from a similar clause this summer. As reported by The Athletic’s Adam Crafton, PSG received €17 million (£15 million) from Hugo Ekitiké’s move to Liverpool.
Romano added that Chelsea are making significant progress in talks over personal terms with Simons. The player is open to the move and interested in joining the Premier League side, with negotiations ongoing to finalize the contract.

TalkSPORT reported Monday that Chelsea are preparing an opening bid for Simons. The 22-year-old midfielder is nearing an agreement on personal terms but remains in talks with other clubs, including Bayern Munich and Arsenal, who are both showing strong interest.
Simons currently favors a move to the Premier League and could be available for less than £60 million.
Recently, Romano reported that Chelsea and RB Leipzig are in advanced talks over Simons. The report adds that negotiations between the clubs are progressing well, with things moving in a positive direction despite some details still to be finalized.
Moreover, Simons is keen on the Chelsea project, and discussions over personal terms are well advanced.
