Chelsea captain Reece James suffers injury setback

Chelsea were handed an injury setback on Sunday once again involving captain Reece James.

According to The Athletic, the Englishman felt discomfort in his hamstring this week during training.

Sources have since confirmed the minor injury means James will not play in the club’s final friendly against Inter Milan on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was already set to miss the opening three fixtures of the 2024/25 Premier League season due to suspension.

However, this injury means he could be a doubt for Chelsea’s two-legged UEFA Conference League play-off in late August.

The report continues to claim the club will not rush his recovery with 14 September deemed a potential return date when the Blues face Bournemouth.
