Charlton Athletic want to secure the signature of young goalkeeper Sonny Inzalaco, who is desperate to move to England, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Nathan Jones was linked heavily with the Cardiff City job in recent weeks, but he resisted the lure of a return to Wales and is plotting Charlton’s Championship campaign.
The Addicks are known for their ability to develop top talents and have their eyes peeled for further starlets to be brought into the club.
That has led to an option in Australia, where 17-year-old goalkeeper Inzalaco is now on their radar.
The shot-stopper has a British passport, to help smooth a move, and is desperate to leave current club Perth Red Star to head to English football.
He has been capped by Australia at youth international level and is considered to be a top prospect between the sticks.
A host of Australian goalkeepers have starred in English football over the years, including Mark Bosnich, Mark Schwarzer and Mathew Ryan, and Inzalaco wants to become the next.
It is unclear if Charlton face any rivals in the race to land him and he would surely be seen as a prospect for the future rather than arriving to compete for a starting spot.
Charlton are set to lose a top talent though as Everton are closing in on a deal to land defender Reuban Gokah.
Gokah, 16, is seen as a hugely promising talent and losing him to Everton is a blow for the Addicks.
Charlton are in the thick of their transfer plans to strengthen hugely for a campaign back at Championship level and have been chasing defender Odeluga Offiah, who is on the books at Brighton.
He starred on a loan spell at Blackpool in League One last season and Charlton boss Jones is sure he can do a job at the Valley in a higher division.
