Brighton & Hove Albion defender Odeluga Offiah is attracting interest from the Championship.

Championship rivals Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers have been linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion defender Odeluga Offiah.

The two London clubs are interested in signing the 22-year-old this summer, with Brighton open to a permanent departure, according to journalist Richard Cawley via his Substack.

Offiah made 40 League One appearances whilst on loan at Blackpool during the 2024/25 season, with his physical attributes and versatility making him a valuable asset to the Tangerines as they finished ninth in the third tier under Steve Bruce.

The Camden-born defender is capable of operating at centre-back or right-back, and he could be set for a return to the capital next season if Charlton or QPR can complete a deal to sign him from Brighton.

Offiah could be seen as a shrewd addition for Championship clubs this summer, considering that he has Premier League experience and plenty of time to develop in the future.

He has played in the top flight six times for the Seagulls against the likes of Newcastle United, Manchester City and Chelsea, while he has also been among the substitutes on 18 occasions in the Premier League.

Charlton boss Nathan Jones saw what Offiah is capable of during both of the Addicks' games against Blackpool last season, as he contributed towards his side taking four points from the eventual promotion-winners.

Blackpool boss Steve Bruce provided an insight into what the defender has to offer in an interview with the Blackpool Gazette in February.

"He's got all the attributes that the modern player requires," Bruce said.

"He's big, strong and powerful. There's been a few times where he's been on these mazy runs when I can see why the crowd like him. He's done very well.

"He's a big physical beast of a man."

Bruce made it clear that he would be more than happy to re-sign Offiah ahead of next season, but with Championship clubs now reportedly interested, it looks as though he will make the step-up to the second tier this summer.

Offiah could have a decision to make

With 12 months remaining on his contract and at least two Championship clubs interested in securing his services, Offiah could well have a decision to make over his future soon.

QPR are yet to appoint a permanent manager to replace Marti Cifuentes, while Charlton recently handed Nathan Jones a new contract, so the Addicks may be able to provide a clearer long-term vision during any potential negotiations.

However, with the South Londoners having just been promoted back to the Championship, QPR are a more established club in the division, which could make Loftus Road a more attractive destination.

Whichever club signs Offiah will have brought in a player with the physical capabilities to thrive in the Championship, and if he settles quickly and is able to develop his game at a higher level, he could become a real asset.

Charlton reportedly beat Derby County to the signing of Sonny Carey earlier this month, so if they can also beat another Championship rival in QPR to sign Offiah, it would be an encouraging sign for the Addicks.
