African football is set to celebrate once again starting this August, as the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from August 2 to 30.

The race for the ultimate crown appears wide open, even though Algeria and Morocco seem the best equipped to claim the title. That said, you can't count out highly competitive teams like Tanzania, DR Congo, or the reigning champions Senegal, who remain serious contenders despite the massive exodus of their young talents to Europe.

Below is the complete list of winners of the African Nations Championship (CHAN):

1st edition (Ivory Coast 2009): DR Congo 2–0 Ghana

2nd edition (Sudan 2011): Tunisia 3–0 Angola

3rd edition (South Africa 2014): Libya 0–0 (4-3 pen)

4th edition (Rwanda 2016): DR Congo 3–0 Mali

5th edition (Morocco 2018): Morocco 4–0 Nigeria

6th edition (Cameroon 2020): Morocco 2–0 Mali
