Midfielder Mohamed Rabie Hrimat captured everyone's attention with the Moroccan national team during the opening day of the group stage at the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The East African region, including Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, is hosting the tournament until August 30.

The 30-year-old played a key role in his national team's 2-0 victory over Angola in his debut at the continental competition.

Life hasn't been easy for Mohamed Rabie Hrimat, who had to fight hard before becoming a "Lion of the Atlas."

A tough start

Trained at the FUS Rabat academy, Mohamed Rabie Hrimat was unable to secure a spot in the first team due to fierce competition in his position.

In the 2014-2015 season, the Rabat club loaned him out to Association Sportive de Salé, playing in the second division.

For four seasons, he struggled for playing time at FUS, featuring in just 13 matches and providing a single assist.

A turning point in his career came in 2019 when he joined Kénitra AC, and then, the following year, AS FAR (the Royal Army).

The rise with AS FAR

Mohamed Rabie Hrimat has shone for AS FAR over the past five seasons.

The midfield ace has played 186 matches in all competitions, contributing to 50 goals through assists and personal finishes.

He was instrumental in his team's league title triumph in the 2022-2023 season and their Moroccan Cup victory in the 2019-2020 campaign.

He was voted the best player in the Moroccan league for the 2023-2024 season, which boosted his market value to 1.5 million euros.
