A pair of iconic figures in Spanish football have this week been tipped for surprise summer transfers.

As much comes amid alleged interest in Barcelona legend Pedro Rodríguez and Real Madrid icon Luka Modrić on the part of Serie A newcomers Como.

Big-money backed Como recently secured promotion to the top-flight of Italian football, alongside Parma.

And the Lombardy-based outfit, evidently, are eager to make their mark on the big stage in 2024/25.

In turn, as per a report from Diario Sport, citing Calciomercato, Gli Azzurri are readying an audacious double swoop on the transfer market.

Cesc Fàbregas, who is currently working behind the scenes at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia whilst waiting for his coaching licence, is the man behind the initiative.

The Spaniard has earned widespread praise for his work at Como to date, and hopes to use his pull as a one-time leading figure in world football to coax the aforementioned Pedro and Modrić to the club.

The former is expected to be open to the prospect of as much, with just a year remaining on his contract with Lazio.

Modrić, on the other hand, could prove an altogether more complicated operation, with his future at Real Madrid beyond the summer currently unclear.

Nevertheless, Fàbregas is ready to pounce, to make Como’s Serie A return one to remember next season.
