Celtic v Ross County – Squad players to step up and put on a show

It’s time for Celtic’s squad players to step up and put on the show against Ross County at Paradise this afternoon…

Today sees us host Ross County at Celtic Park on league duty. It’s a vital game as we can extend our lead over Aberdeen to five points, and with the Dons having to play at Tynecastle tomorrow it would heap further pressure on them as they bid to stay in the title race after dropping five points from their last to matches.

As for today’s game I can see Brendan resting a couple of players due to the physically draining efforts of Wednesday night, not to mention a crucial game at Pittodrie looming in midweek.

The likes of Alistair Johnston, CCV, Reo Hatate, Kyogo, and Arne Engels could drop out to give them some much needed rest with future games in mind.

If that’s the case then whoever replaces them today is got to step up and show that they can contribute to the side, and put some pressure on those who are deemed as regular starters.

The likes of Tony Ralston, Liam Scales, Paulo Bernardo, Luke McCowan, Yang and Adam Idah (if selected) have got to put in a flawless performance to show that they deserve to be seen as more than ‘squad players’.

I’m not saying all will start, but a few most likely will, and it’s vitally important that they grab this chance with both hands, not just for the team, but for themselves also.

Ultimately today is about getting the three points and if we can achieve that while resting some weary legs then we will be in a stronger position for the massive matches that will come thick and fast after this one.

Ross County have frustrated us previously, even at Celtic Park, so getting the job done early would be satisfying and would make for a very happy St Andrews Day in Paradise.
