A Glasgow Derby is always a special occasion. Especially more so when Celtic are very close to winning the league title, which will be their fourth on the trot. There will be more riding on the result of this weekend's game as well, as the Hoops will be eager to put things right, after losing 3-0 at Ibrox in their last meeting.
Celtic have rarely lost by that one-sided of a margin against the Rangers in recent times. The Parkhead meeting is an opportunity to avenge that defeat at Ibrox.
Another notable thing that will happen in this Glasgow Derby is the return of away fans. Rangers supporters will be present at Celtic Park after several years.
Most would agree that the presence of an away support does add to the atmosphere of the Glasgow Derby. About 2400 Rangers fans will be present at Celtic Park tomorrow.
On the other hand, Celtic have released a statement to their supporters on the eve of the Glasgow Derby at Parkhed. It read:
"Celtic encourages our supporters to support the team positively. The possession and use of fireworks, smoke bombs, firecrackers and all pyrotechnics are absolutely prohibited. Again, we stress the dangers surrounding fireworks and pyrotechnics, which are a serious risk to spectator safety. The club and its supporters are rightly proud of our reputation and we encourage all supporters to help foster this reputation at this fixture."
Of course, Celtic have gotten in trouble in recent times due to fans using fireworks in the stands. A portion of their allocation for an upcoming game was cut as a result of it, as well. Hopefully, that will result in things changing in this respect.
The home support will be one of Celtic's biggest advantages when they take on the Rangers this weekend. It is no surprise that they have not lost at home to the Ibrox side in a long, long time.
Their last defeat against the Rangers at Parkhead came back in October of 2022 to be exact. Since then, eight games have been played at Celtic Park without the Hoops tasting defeat. Hopefully, that run will extend to nine this weekend.
