A number of Celtic players are being linked with moves away as we get closer to the summer transfer window. Of course, this is nothing that the supporters are not used to. Departure of key names has not been rare over the years. Just this season, Matt O'Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi have left the Hoops for Brighton & Hove Albion and Rennes, respectively.

Who will be the next big name to depart Celtic? Time shall tell. Someone who is being linked with a move to the Premier League is Alistair Johnston.

Johnston has been the starting right-back for Celtic since his arrival in early 2023 as the replacement for Josip Juranovic. And rumours have suggested that clubs like Fulham and Ipswich Town will try to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Of course, Celtic fans would not want to see one of their favourites leave. There is some great news in that regard. It looks like the Canadian international has no intention of leaving Parkhead just yet. As reported by The Guardian, Johnston said:

"I’m in no rush to take a Scottish dog out of Scotland.“That’d be its own challenge. I don’t take for granted what an unbelievable opportunity this club has [given me]."

That will be music to Celtic fans' ears. That is exactly what they want to hear when a player is asked about his future. Not some general non-answer.

Johnston has a contract with Celtic that is believed to run until the summer of 2029. So, the club are under no pressure to part ways with him anytime soon.

In fact, Johnston is the type of player who can have a long stint at Celtic and develop into a club legend. Think of something similar to Mikael Lustig.

Judging from Johnston's comments, it looks like Celtic do not need worry about his future. He seems to have every intention of continuing his career at Parkhead beyond this season despite rumoured interest from Premier League clubs.
