We are still months away from the summer transfer window. But the rumour mill is already working full-time. We have seen Celtic being linked with a number of players, with new names like Kalidou Sidibe and Herba Guirassy emerging as potential targets for the Hoops. On the other hand, there are also those being linked with moves away from Parkhead.

At the same time, some eyes will also be on former players and what they do this summer. None more so than Jeremie Frimpong.

Since leaving Celtic for Bayer Leverkusen in early 2021, Frimpong has developed into one of the most effective full-backs or wing-backs in world football. That has seen him being linked with some of the best teams in Europe.

Liverpool are expected to try and sign Frimpong in the summer, especially if Trent Alexander-Arnold leaves the club, with his current deal set to expire soon. On the other hand, FC Barcelona are another team who have been linked with the former Celtic right-back. But their interest might not be as strong.

As reported by Cule Mania, Barcelona, at most, would be willing to pay a €25 million transfer fee for Frimpong. Hansi Flick believes he would be a good fit for the club.

Of course, one would think that Bayer Leverkusen would not be willing to part ways for Frimpong at that kind of a figure. His release clause is believed to be in the region of €40 million and considering some of the teams that are being linked with the Dutchman, finding such an offer might not be difficult.

This is significant for Celtic as well. That is because they are believed to hold a substantial sell-on clause for Frimpong. So, his exit would bring in a major windfall.
