Celtic midfielder Kwon looks set to depart on a permanent basis with French side Nantes expected to sign the South Korean player. Celtic have been proactive in moving on players with Marco Tilio and Luis Palma departing, amongst others, and Kwon has been expected to move on.

Now, Ouest via GFFN are claiming that a deal has been done to take Kwon to Pays de la Loire.

Last month it was reported that Celtic were willing to sell the player for £300k with Austria Vienna vying for his signature.

The 24-year-old hasn’t made a competitive appearance for Celtic but struggled against Athletic Club in James Forrest’ Testimonial. He didn’t endear himself to Celtic supporters as he declared that he would be one of the better players in Scotland before leaving for a Top 5 league. The reality has been somewhat different, even if he is headed for French football.

Celtic loaned him to St Mirren for the second half of 2023/24 season, in which he impressed and was well received in Paisley. Despite The Buddies wanting Kwon to return, Celtic sanctioned a move to join David Gray’s, where he made 22 appearances. The Hibs supporters had mix reviewed about the player but they will likely be to do with the success from late November onwards when Hibs went from 12th to 3rd in the table.

Kwon’s compatriot, Yang, also looks set to leave with Norwich City in advanced talks over a deal to secure the winger’s signature. Brendan Rodgers wants his side strengthened but has been linked ruthless in his approach to clearing out players that he doesn’t believe have a future at the club.
