Juventus Women are ready to play their first official match of the 2025/2026 season.

Tomorrow, Friday 22 August 2025, at 20.30 (CEST), the Bianconere will play at Tardini in Parma to face the Emilian side in their first match of the group stage of the Serie A Women's Cup, a new competition that will see all twelve teams from the top Italian women's league.

As always, Massimiliano Canzi discussed a number of topics during his usual pre-match interview.

THE TEAM'S CONDITION

"Mentally, we are in good shape for the first cup match of the season because winning the two most recent matches against Como Women and Inter in The Women's Cup, which served as a bit of a “buffer” between the friendlies and the first official competition that we start tomorrow, has given us great momentum and confidence. At the same time, among the many positive aspects, we have also highlighted some areas for improvement, and we are happy about this because it gives us the opportunity to work on growing. Physically, we are in good shape, but we cannot consider ourselves to be 100% ready because about ten players didn't start training with us until mid-July as they were at the European Championships. Some players therefore started training five weeks ago and others only three, but at the same time, the latter have not had too many days off.

A DIFFERENT PREPARATION

"This year's preparation have certainly been different, but not complicated. There have been no problems whatsoever with the girls who returned after the European Championships because they only rested for ten days – depending on when they were eliminated from the competition – so they didn't need to work too hard to get back into shape. At the same time, however, we are aware that these players will need to be managed with great care during this season because they have never actually stopped between one season and the next, except for about ten days. There will come a time when they will need to take a breather, but not now. We knew well in advance what situations we would be facing and, as a result, we calibrated the workloads well.

A NEW BIANCONERA: TATIANA PINTO

"Tatiana is a player of great depth, both in terms of her age, as she is at the peak of her career, and her international experience, having played in Portugal – her home country – England and Spain. She has made more than 100 appearances for the Portuguese national team, which confirms her value. We were looking for someone like her, and I am sure that her contribution will be of fundamental importance for the whole team. Her arrival will further strengthen our squad, and we are all very happy. What's more, she has already played with some of our players, so it will be easier for her to settle in.

A SQUAD BUILT WITH TARGETED SIGNINGS

"We have certainly made some shrewd signings because we are talking about a team that did very well last year. When a player left, we needed to bring in a targeted replacement with specific characteristics. We are very happy with the new players. We have signed established players such as Cambiaghi and Pinto, two players with a structured style of play and personality who just need to adapt to the Juventus environment. We have also signed some very young players with great potential, such as Carbonell and Libran. These are athletes with excellent prospects. De Jong herself, between the posts, is a young goalkeeper, and of an excellent standard. De Jong was born in 2003 and is already the back-up goalkeeper for the Dutch senior national team. All the signings were chosen by the club and endorsed by me, in complete harmony. I am very happy with our transfer market activity.

THE SERIE A WOMEN'S CUP

"To be honest, from my previous experience in men's football, I felt that there was a lack of official competition before the league that could introduce you to the league itself with less pressure. In this case, we can consider the Serie A Women's Cup the best way to start competing in official matches, also because it is a tournament that we care a lot about and will be the first official competition of the season at domestic level, and we will obviously play to go all the way. We know that our path will not be easy, starting with the group stage: Parma, our first opponent, is a newly promoted team, but they have made some good signings and are a team that will have their say in the championship. Lazio Women were the surprise package of last season, they are coached by a coach who I consider to be very good, they are a solid and tough team to face and, not least, they always gave us a hard time last season. Then there is Napoli Women, who have confirmed the coach with whom they played the second half of the 2024/2025 championship, and I am sure they will do better this year. We have great respect for our opponents."
