Canada faced South Korea in a friendly match on Tuesday, with the Canucks winning 5-1 to cap off a troubling year in style.
Scorers: Lim Seon-joo 22' (OG), Alidou 52', Smith 58', Gilles 78', Leon 90+2'; Lee 76'
It was one-way traffic as interim manager Cynthia Marie Tye led a new-look Canadian Women's National Team side to victory.
The Canucks can maybe put a troubling 2024 behind them after their drone scandal and departure of Bev Priestman grabbed the spotlight. Now, they can enter 2025 in the best way possible.
The North American side dominated the game with 60% and registered some 22 efforts to just four for South Korea. However, it was only a one-goal game by the break.
Liverpool youngster Olivia Smith was the first to make an impact. The 20-year-old's finish from a tight angle hit off defender Lim Seon-joo and under goalkeeper Kyung-Hee Kim for the opener.
Coming out after the break, the Canadians hit the ground running, looking to convert more of their chances.
Marie-Yasmine Alidou turned things 2-0 after she looked up and found the top of the net from about 25 yards out.
Minutes later, Smith finally got her name on the scoresheet after outmuscling three defenders and driving a low roller into the bottom left corner.
South Korea erased any clean sheet hopes when a perfect corner delivery from Ji So-yun set up Hyok-Yung Lee for a header.
However, Canada quickly restored their three-goal lead when Vanessa Gilles headed home one of her own.
Veteran Adriana Leon later piled on the misery after swivelling in the box and powering the ball home with a left-footed shot.
This is South Korea's fifth consecutive loss in all competitions. Canada, meanwhile, have a win alongside their two draws.
