2024/25 has seen maximum pain and minimal enjoyment for Leicester City fans. The joy and spark of making a deserved return to the big time of Premier League football was swiftly extinguished. Unfortunately, the east Midlands club was not well prepared for the current campaign - and it showed. We can thank chairman Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha for that to some extent. The mishandling of financial affairs, or simply planning not to spend and using the system as an excuse, has really hurt this organisation.
Under pressure director of football Jon Rudkin is arguably primarily at fault. And the LCFC recruitment department should definitely reassess their methods of selecting talent. That's if those staff members are in work next year. I believe the Leicester squad, while being drastically under qualified, still massively underperformed as a whole. So not much has gone right this term. Pretty much gloom and doom, or at least a write off!
You could say the fact that City have a supposedly promising and unquestionably decent youth group coming through is the only positive. However, formerly injured and important Fox Ricardo Pereira is now fit again. The Portuguese has been fairly pivotal to the King Power side in years gone by. Can this returning star player save the season?
Ricardo was unavailable for a long four months. During that time, James Justin was unbelievably poor overall in his place on the right side. Therefore having the 31-year-old back is ideal really.
Although, Leicester are slipping away. In fact, it would be difficult for any one footballer to ensure we avoid relegation. Naturally the Portugal international adds strength on one side and necessary balance.
