CAI defeats Verdes for first three points

PANAMA CITY – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with Club Atlético Independiente earning a 3-1 win against Verdes FC in Group C on Thursday at Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez in Panama City, Panama.
Club Atlético Independiente took the lead in the 11’ when Ángel Valverde fired a right-footed shot inside the box, assisted by Keny Bonilla.
Daiver Vega equalized for Verdes in the 31’ with a left-footed strike from the left side of the box, connecting on a long ball from Bryan Lozano.
Abraham Altamirano retook the lead for CAI in the 41’ with a right-footed shot of his own in the box. Jair Modelo assisted the play as he fought off the defender.
Rafael Águila put a bow on the victory with a short free kick goal in the 82’ to seal the three points of the campaign for the Panamanian side.
CAI will host Deportivo Saprissa for its next CAC encounter on Wednesday. Verdes FC will close its participation in the 2025 edition at CS Cartaginés on the same night.
