Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly made a big decision on his future at the club.
Earlier this summer, Fernandes was the subject of an approach from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal. Heading into the Club World Cup, Al-Hilal identified Fernandes as their ideal marquee target.
The club offered Fernandes an eye-watering three-year contract worth £200m. They were also prepared to offer United a sum north of £100m.
United left it to Fernandes to decide whether or not he wanted to go and after lengthy deliberations, he decided to remain at Old Trafford and help the team through a difficult period. However, it’s understood that interest in Fernandes from Saudi Arabia remains firm.
Al-Ittihad are believed to be eyeing him ahead of the close of the summer transfer window on Monday, September 1.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Fernandes does not want to leave United but will consider his options next summer.
Now, CaughtOffside claim that the 30-year-old is gradually opening up to the prospect of departing Old Trafford and there is a new potential transfer destination – Major League Soccer.
CaughtOffside reveal, “There is the growing feeling that Manchester United attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes could be heading for a new chapter in his career.”
“Sources with close ties to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that Fernandes, under contract until 2027, is open to a move to clubs in the MLS”
The news outlet notes that Fernandes’ representatives held “positive talks” with Al-Ittihad and the playmaker “gave the green light” for a move. He is asking for a €40m per year contract.
With under three days left in the window, United are unlikely to sanction Fernandes’ exit, not least because replacing him in such a short span would be impossible. His departure would also trigger major upheaval in the squad.
Meanwhile, United are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Burnley to the Theatre of Dreams.
